VR immersive Video Game
Fractured War is an immersive VR game, which places the player within a war-torn alien region shaped by prolonged conflict and societal division. The game explores how war impacts not only the physical environment but also the cultural identity, relationships, and daily lives of the people within the region. Through virtual reality, players are not simply observers but active participants, allowing them to experience the emotional and psychological weight of navigating a fractured society. As the player progresses, they are given a package intended for an elder figure who seeks to rebuild and unify the region. However, the journey is not straightforward. Along the way, the player encounters individuals from different factions, each with their own perspectives, values, and motivations shaped by the war. These interactions introduce moral dilemmas that challenge the player to question their decisions, ultimately influencing whether they complete their original mission or choose an alternative path.
The game also emphasizes environmental storytelling, using visual design, architecture, and world-building to communicate the history and condition of the region without relying solely on dialogue. Each area reflects the lasting effects of conflict, from damaged landscapes to culturally distinct spaces that represent the identities of the different factions. By engaging with these elements, players gain a deeper understanding of the societies they encounter.
The goal of Fractured War is to
foster empathy and awareness by encouraging players to reflect on the consequences\ of war and the complexity of human (and non-human) experiences within it. By combining immersive VR technology, player-driven choice, and narrative design, this project aims to create a meaningful and thought-provoking experience that highlights the emotional and societal impact of conflict. The player will get to decide how they interact with the inhabitants, given different dialogue as they progress. Depending on the dialogue chosen will influence events in the game.
